This Counseling Disclaimer covers who PetCloud is and isn’t, what to expect from our peer support, and where to turn if you’re in a crisis this platform can’t help with. For the full agreement about how PetCloud works — arbitration, liability, changes to policies, and everything else — please see our full Terms & Conditions, which govern this Disclaimer as well.
By using PetCloud, you’re agreeing to what’s below. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
PetCloud offers peer support for people grieving the loss of a pet. Our facilitators are trained in grief specifically — through the Grief Recovery Institute® (griefrecoverymethod.com), the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (aplb.org), and the Association for Veterinary Pastoral Education (petchaplain.com), among others.
We are not licensed psychologists (PhD/PsyD), marriage or family therapists (LMFT), clinical social workers (LCSW), or licensed professional counselors (LPC). What happens in a PetCloud group is peer support — not a substitute for face-to-face care from a licensed mental-health professional, and not appropriate for every situation.
Nothing said in a PetCloud space should be treated as medical, psychological, or psychiatric advice. Recording of any kind is prohibited.
PetCloud groups and services are for adults. If you’re under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to reach out to us on your behalf.
PetCloud and our staff are not mandated reporters. That means we cannot and will not report suspected or observed cases of child abuse or neglect, elder abuse or neglect, abuse or neglect of people with disabilities, suicide threats or ideation, or threats to others, to any authority, family member, or third party.
If you’re in one of these situations, we strongly encourage you to seek out qualified help directly. In some cases, at our sole discretion, we may help point you toward resources.
If you’re thinking about suicide, considering harming yourself or someone else, worried that another person may be in immediate danger, or facing a medical emergency:
Please call 911 (US) or your local emergency number right now, and seek immediate in-person help.
PetCloud groups and facilitators are not equipped to handle crisis situations. We’re a peer grief support community — not an emergency service. We’ll never be a substitute for a real professional in an urgent moment.

PetCloud is not a source of clinical diagnosis or advice about specific medications or medical treatments. If anything you hear in a PetCloud group conflicts with guidance from a licensed therapist, counselor, or physician, please defer to your licensed provider.
Never delay or skip in-person care from a doctor or qualified mental-health professional because of information or advice you received through PetCloud. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 or 988 immediately.
As part of our resources lists, PetCloud may share links, referrals, or listings for third-party mental-health professionals, veterinarians, crematories, or other providers on our website and through email/messages. Any provider information is accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time it was collected, and may be updated by the individual professional.
Before working with any behavioral health professional referred through PetCloud, please verify their credentials with the appropriate state licensing authority. PetCloud does not endorse or take responsibility for the services of any third-party provider.
This Counseling Disclaimer is part of PetCloud’s full Terms & Conditions. The Terms cover arbitration and jurisdiction (Chattanooga, Tennessee), limitations of liability, force majeure, attorney fees, member conduct rules, and changes to any of our policies. Everything in the Terms applies to your acceptance of this Disclaimer.
